Nick Kyrgios still in hunt for coach

Australia’s Nick Kyrgios said Tuesday he was still looking to hire a coach after his spectacular Grand Slam meltdown in Melbourne, admitting it was “something I’ve got to do moving forward”. Kyrgios said he had “a couple” of candidates in mind, without naming anyone, but added that the right person needed to have Kyrgios’s “best interests at heart”. “I’ve got to (world number) 13 in the world without one, so hopefully with a coach I can improve my game and get there.

Rafael Nadal out of Davis Cup after grueling Australian Open (Yahoo Sports)

Rafael Nadal is taking some time off after his Australian Open final loss to Roger Federer. The Spanish tennis federation said Monday that Nadal has been dropped from Spain’s Davis Cup team because of fatigue following his five-set loss to Federer in Sunday’s final. The federation said the decision was made after a recommendation by doctor Angel Ruiz Cotorro, who said Nadal’s recovery time would be too short.
